It is no joke that every day we turn towards social media to get the latest information on what is happening in the world. I’m embarrassed to say that even I use the “trending tweets” on my Twitter page to get caught up with current news. But it makes sense! We are constantly on social media-Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc and with millions of users posting every day, where else would we turn to for the most up-to-date information?

It is the same when it comes to sports and fitness, and for May, there is even #NationalPhysicalFitnessMonth ! Yes, try to fit that in your 140 character tweet! So, how do we find out the best tips to achieve our fitness goals? We look on social media of course!

Facebook Fitness Star, Furious Pete

Food blogThis guy is an all around super-star! Not only does he influence people all around the world to exercise and stay healthy, but he also has fun and (sometimes) does the opposite! Furious Pete competes in eating challenges. According to an article on Boomopolis, Furious Pete has participated in over 90 eating competitions and holds 6 Guinness World Records. I just saw him eat a full on, huge burrito in under one minute on his Facebook page! I am no expert, but I am pretty sure that is not how you get a six-pack.

Although the burrito eating was impressive, he also shows us how to eat healthy. On one of his Facebook posts, he lists a small recipe for a “Looks gross. Tastes Awesome” breakfast! Just add a mixture of cottage cheese, natural peanut butter, PB2 powder (defatted peanut butter powder), blueberries, and the final ingredient- a thin topping of sugar free pancake syrup! This would be a great recipe if you are looking to build muscle, as it is full of protein!

The Twitter Regular, Wuju Fitness

Food blog on SmoothiesThis Miami-based company constantly tweets fitness tips including what to eat, drink, and what to use for fitness pain. One of my favorite tweets they post is titled “Embarassing Gym Story”. A recent quote from Stephanie writes,” My very first gym experience I went to an awesome class that used the resistance bands. Apparently they were worn out because they snapped and hit me in the face. Black eye for a week. Maybe that’s where my aversion to gyms come from. Huh_Well I guess I can stop going to therapy now_problem solved.” Wuju Fitness tweets on average 4-5 times per day, making sure you are kept up to date with all of the fitness trends, including healthy drinks!

She has such great motivational messages and her voice and the background music both have the perfect tones to soothe even your most crazy day! Is it a coincidence that she posts these on Mondays? These videos are called “verb of the week” and they give you the motivation to start your week off right! She also posts instructional videos on how to work out specific muscles, inspirational quotes, and ideas on weekly meal preparations.

An Instagram post showed her meal prep for the week: Alaskan Salmon Spinach, Kale Avocado Salads, and Grilled Chicken with Baked Asparagus. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect meal to achieve your fitness goals? I will start with the Alaskan Salmon Spinach, please!

“Being healthy” does not mean to just eat and drink right and work out regularly. There is also a large psychological presence that glues it all together. When you put together all four elements, you will lead a healthy and strong lifestyle. By following these three fitness gurus on social media, they will motivate you to lead a healthy life, or at least give you the best tips to do so. If you’re going to be on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram anyway, why wouldn’t you?! Cheers to health and fitness!
