Incorporating Fitness In Your Workplace

Starting your fitness journey can be daunting, especially when you work in an office and sit for a majority of the time. When we think about our workplace, fitness isn’t always the first thing to come to mind. In fact, a lot of us even lunch at our desk, staring at our computer screens.

With that in mind, did you know that a lack of physical activity is one of the leading causes of preventable death worldwide. Encouraging fitness in the workplace is one of the easiest ways to combat this issue. This can be beneficial for both employers and their (obviously) employees. It doesn’t have to be a large movement, but even the smallest changes can make a difference in someone’s life. Keep reading for some easy ways to make a change in your office.

Workplace Fitness Challenge

For example, here at AnyPromo were are hosting a Fitness Challenge! Running 3 months, this annual challenge is the kick in the butt we need to start our year off right. The winner is chosen on percentage of body fat lost, but all the benefits from people participating in the challenge are immeasurable. Everyone turns out to be a winner. We encourage healthier eating habits, a more active lifestyle and a healthier state of mind. We reiterate the fact that small differences make a huge impact. It doesn’t have to be a sudden or drastic change, but small gradual baby steps. Ultimately the goal of our fitness challenge is to promote a lifestyle change. Habits take 21 days to form, and if your forced to make these healthy habits because of a fitness challenge, more power to you!

Teach Healthy Habits

Knowledge is power. Sometimes people are hesitant to start a change because they simply don’t know where to start. Take some time to teach your employees basic healthy habits, walking more, drinking more water, making healthier food choices. You can do this by encouraging everyone to walk on their break, or a have daily stretch before they start their day. Having healthy snacks is also another easy way to help your employees make healthier choices. Swap out those sweets you bring to the office for fruits and vegetables instead.

After Work Events

If you or someone in your office has the time, try scheduling team outings centered around health! This can be hikes, flag football, bike riding etc. You can even turn this into a team bonding exercise. It’s great to get a breath of fresh air as well as seeing your co-workers outside the office.

Offer Encouragement

Be motivating! Always keep the healthy spirit up, and offer encouraging words to everyone. The road to a healthy lifestyle isn’t always the easiest; so by offering help and encouragement, you’re making the process a little bit better. It’s always good to know someone is behind you, rooting you on. So cheer on your coworkers and employees! Tips, tricks and motivational quotes all work, just make sure to cheer everyone on.
