So you have money leftover in your budget and need a few ideas on what to spend it on?
I have all the old tips from the jar along with some new ones!
We’re going to pretend to implement all the ideas below with an end-of-year budget.
(Percentages represent how much of your budget should go into that idea.)
Here are 6 things you should do with your end-of-year budget:
Thank your employees – 35%
This is a no-brainer. If you’re not showing your appreciation towards your employees, do you really think it’s causing a happy environment?
Your employees chose to work for YOU!
I had mentioned on our latest blog about employee recognition that 70% of employees say motivation and morale would improve “massively” with managers saying “thank you” more.
Since it’s the end-of-the-year, it’s the best time to show them your appreciation, whether it’s at the holiday party or weekly meeting.
Here at AnyPromo, we’re showing our appreciation towards our employees at our Holiday Party.
Our CEO will be giving away high-end prizes to employees.
This is a pretty nice way to show your appreciation towards your employees for their hard work. Especially during the season of giving, it makes the thought 100% better.
Now the prizes don’t have to be so high-end.
Quality drinkware is not only well-received but affordable as well. I’m sure they’ll be pretty psyched to receive a stainless steel copper-lined double-wall tumbler from you. These tumblers are very useful, for all sorts of purposes.
These tumblers are universally loved because keeping your drink ice cold or piping hot for hours is a huge quality of life improvement. Most of our employees will be going into Q1 with a new tumbler.
Promotional items for clients – 25%
Yes, it wouldn’t be us if we didn’t recommend this.
You should be rewarding your most loyal clients for their business — let them know that you are always there for them.
They will not only appreciate the custom item they receive, but they will be reminded to shop with you.
Before receiving a promotional product, 55% of people had done business with the advertiser. After receiving a promotional product, 85% of people did business with the advertiser.
That’s a 30% increase!
Whether you choose to give custom items to all your customers or top customers, they will be glad to be receiving an item from the company they shop with.
Here at AnyPromo, we use this idea every year by giving away a special gift to our top customers this month (no spoilers).
So what promotional item will you be giving to your customers?
Prepare for the new year – 20%
Everyone is doing it. We’re all looking ahead to next year, why? Because we have goals to reach.
Business plans don’t end in December, they continue on to the following year!
Do you have new software or applications in mind that could help with next year?
Purchase that add-on you needed for WordPress, or purchase things you will need for next year’s campaigns.
Whatever it is you need or maybe want for your business, purchase it now with your end-of-year budget.
It may help with next year’s business plan.
Boost your content – 10%
All the content that made it above and beyond, boost it now!
Get the traffic, clicks and leads that you need to end this year with a BANG!
We know some publications perform better than others, but it’s usually the evergreen content that outperforms.
Because readers are constantly looking for something relevant, make sure you boost the evergreen content that is doing well for your business.
This strategy will definitely help put your company name out there.
Promote it on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc!
This will only add on to your end-of-year goal.
Invest in infrastructure – 5%
Make your office a better working environment by improving the building.
If you notice your ceiling is always leaking when it’s raining, now’s the time to fix it.
Although, improvements shouldn’t get put off until the end-of-year budget, especially if it’s something your office building needs.
Keeping it safe and modern will help your employees stay safe. Plus, it’ll attract many job seekers.
Believe it or not, the building makes a difference to the interviewee.
Maybe you need a bigger parking lot?
Invest in what you need now!
Sign up for conferences – 5%
Keep your mind open with next year’s conferences.
Networking opportunities always help broaden the range of potential contacts.
Don’t let you or your employees stay behind a computer the whole year, get educated on how much you can improve in your industry.
Give your company some excitement to look forward to next year!
These are just a few ideas…
You don’t have to follow these ideas, but if you have a leftover budget, these are a few ideas you could spend it on.
Every business is different, and this may not apply to everyone.
Although, thanking your employees is definitely something you should really think about.
Do you have another idea on what businesses should incorporate in their end-of-year spending?
